Screwup presents: Bending the Bottom: gender flex in BDSM play

Friday, January 9th, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:30 PM Femina Potens, 2199 Market Street (at Sanchez Street), San Francisco

Does your gender presentation vary by the roles that you play in BDSM?

Are you a boy top and and a fierce femme bottom?

Have you ever surprised yourself or others with a gendered bottom identity?

Do you ever feel drawn to play in gender(s) outside of your usual comfort zones?

Then this is the Screwup for you!

Timnah will be presenting about playing with bottom spaces, and how that can intersect with gender expectations, perceptions, and presentations. Leading with her own experiences of playing in different bottom spaces - gendered and not - Timnah will facilitate a discussion about bottoming and gender expression.

If time allows, we may expand the discussion to include how switches and tops experience this as well. Discussion is open to everyone open to learning and sharing on these topics.

screwup is for trans people, genderqueers, and our friends. This event is open to all genders and will be held at Femina Potens gallery. Folks sometimes go out for coffee or food afterwards, so come prepared...

Femina Potens is wheelchair accessible, however the single gender-neutral bathroom is not. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause, and are looking for an accessible restroom in the vicinity.

$0-5 donation will be accepted to cover the cost of supplies and flyers. No one turned away.

Spread the word by downloading, printing, and distributing flyers.

Please contact screwup@screwup.info if you'd like us to arrange for an ASL interpreter, to get involved, make suggestions or with any other requests.

Directions to Femina Potens

The MUNI METRO LINES J,K,L,M,N, the F MUNI STREETCAR LINE, or MUNI BUS LINES 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 21, 26, 47, 49, 66 and 71 all run within a few blocks of Femina Potens - many run within 1 block. Sharing some of my stress [16 May 2008|12:49am]

panthera_sapien
I'm going to post an email here that I sent as well as posted in my own journal. Because I don't have a specific question, and because the email isn't addressed to you, I'm not sure how appropriate it is for the group, but I want to share because it's related to a pretty good amount of stress I feel about not being accepted (as FtM) into men's-only situations. The email was sent to a local leather boys' group.

Here's the email.Collapse )

martial arts fetish [28 Mar 2008|02:44pm]

metal_dog

Does anyone here find practicing martial arts to be a massive kink turn-on? Wrestling in particular, for me sparks me up… I love it! I keep a lid on things during formal training, but I long to find other queer wrestling/martial arts buddies to play a little more freely with. When I heard about the Doom Maidens/Grapple Den in NY I just about wet myself!

http://www.doommaidens.com/main.html

Is there anyone out there who has played with these fighters? Omg they are all so hot... (Doesn’t hurt either that Veviter Lane reminds me very much of an ex of mine)

Anyone know of anything like this in Australia?? (long shot i know..)

FtM and/or butch (and new to the group) [31 Jan 2008|08:34pm]

panthera_sapien
Hello everyone -- I'm Vic. I'm new to the group... 19... FtM... Been in the BDSM community for about a year and half, and have been slowly coming to have some kind of grasp on the leather community. And... for the question below, I'm mostly sexually oriented towards men.

So here's my question/issue. I have decided to transition and should be starting T before long. I recently told a friend of my plans, a friend who is in the leather and lesbian communities, and she was cool with my decision, but suggested that I interview some very butch women and see where they stand on these sorts of issues -- the women who, as a friend put it, "are more Sir-ish than some men." I have also, in general, been trying to figure out the difference between a butch woman and an FtM -- it seems to be just the way they choose to identify themselves.

So, what do you have to say on this idea?

(And, somehow, I get the feeling that this entry will be slightly offensive. If so, I would appreciate advice on how to avoid that in the future.)

Is there something wrong with me? [18 Jan 2008|08:59pm]

elliot_manning
So, my partner and I were in bed this morning, and I was practically begging hir to choke me, because I just love it. I was finally able to persuade hir to do this, but hours later, I started noticing a dull pain in my trachea/neck muscle area and got all freaked out. Ze assured me that I shouldn't be, and that ze simply locked hir arm in a place that ze usually doesn't so that's why it could still feel weird, but I was still worried.

The sensation is fading now, and I don't think that I have a bruise or anything from it -- I was just wondering if anyone could offer an explanation for this, because when there's something physically painful for me, I like to have logical ideas as to what the problem could be so that I can try to rule out the illogical ones.

Sorry to post something so NYC-specific, but this seemed like a good place to get the word out. Please feel free to repost this anywhere you think it should be shared. (And I'm sorry for any cross-posting you encounter.)

Thanks,

Do you know that the Lesbian Sex Mafia's party etiquette requires some transwomen to keep their genitals covered during our play parties? The current party etiquette reads:

"If you have a bio-penis, please keep it covered."
(-LSM Website, November 15, 2007)

We are a group of cisgender, genderqueer and transgender LSM members and allies who believe this policy needs to be struck down. LSM stands for safe, sane, consensual and confidential sex and play for ALL women – past, present and future. If you're interested in learning more and joining us, write your contact information below.

You can help make LSM a place that welcomes all women.

looking for some community out in toronto [16 Jul 2007|09:21pm]

just_shane06

hey
I'm a 22 year old genderqueer transboy just getting started on the process of getting on a half dose of hormons. I have been into kink my whole life and have started to exlpore what the community has to offer and really trying new things.

Heres my thing there seems to be a lot of cis-gendered straight play out there and i can see where the gay bio-boys are at but wheres the women, trans, genderqueer folk at?
Any connections of finding that community up here would be something a boy would be very thankful for

Thanks

May screwup

screwup: BDSM for trans people, genderqueers and their friends, presents...

Flogging? Yes, flogging, really!

by Domina

Friday, May 11, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:30 PM
New College of California in San Francisco, Room 22 (2nd Floor), 766 Valencia Street (near 18th Street), San Francisco

Well, now you have a flogger and…what do you do with it?

You might be surprised at the answers!! There are lots of things you can do with a flogger, and this class is going to show you exactly what those things are. We’re going to help you explore various flogging strokes, strike zones, ways to use a flogger sensually, warm ups, flogger materials and how to buy a flogger.

We’ll teach you the gamut from nice to nasty as far as technique. And we’ll discuss positioning the bottom for each method.
Bring a flogger if you have one. Domina will be bringing a few from her collection so you can see examples of well made equipment from different makers. So there will be a few available for borrowing.

Since this is a workshop, everyone gets to feel it and to try it. Bring a partner, or match up with someone at the class.

Domina, owner of the Frugal Domme Website, is a familiar sight in the Bay Area BDSM community. She started the Modesto Discussion Group, The Northern California Ladies Tea and Discussion Society, and several elists. She is an Emeritus member of the Dungeon Monitors Association Board of Directors, and teaches a lot of different classes in the bay area. She currently helps to organize the Petaluma Munch.

She identifies as a bisexual dominant, and lives in the woods near Forestville with her husband Lee and three very dominant cats.

screwup is for trans people, genderqueers and our friends. This event is open to all genders and will be held in Room 22 at the New College of California. Folks often go out for coffee or food afterwards, so come prepared...
